Overview

The Royal Decree approved the establishment of the College of Sciences and Arts in Al-Qurayyat Governorate, affiliated to Al-Jouf University, at the beginning of the academic year 1431/1430 AH. Upon its inception, the college included only two departments: the Department of Islamic Studies and the Department of Arabic Language, after which nine other departments were added, bringing the total to 11 departments.

The Department of Computer Science organizes scientific day activities entitled Information Security.

The Department of Computer Science in the college held the activities of the scientific day of the department entitled: Information Security.

The event began with a speech by Dr. Ahmed Atito Abdel-Aty, entitled: Information Security Culture, in which he dealt with the definition of information security, its importance, the components and pillars of the information system, information crimes, their classification, and means of protection. He shed light on the system of combating information crimes in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

 

Then Dr. Amr Abdel Wahed Mahmoud Abu Zeid, Assistant Professor in the Department, spoke about the topic of quantum computing and information security, in which he dealt with the definition of the concept of quantum computing and its connection to quantum physics. He explained the main principles of quantum computing and the extent of their positive and negative impact on saving, processing, and transmitting data and information. The quantum computing roadmap and the most important applications were also presented, with a focus on applications related to information security. Then the future of investment in the field of quantum computing and the most important companies and institutions operating in this field were presented

 

And about the role of information encryption in information security, Dr. Rasha Mahmoud Abdel Aziz, assistant professor in the department, spoke about cryptography and types of encryption. It dealt with an encryption method and how to encrypt data and decrypt using an encryption key. The lecture also dealt with how to protect computer applications when using the Internet. At the end of the lecture, some general guidelines for the protection and security of information were presented.

 

The student / Razan Nasser Aqeel Al-Shammari (student in the Department of Computer Science) also participated in the conversation with a speech on the concept of information security and the three pillars of information security, which are confidentiality, integrity and availability, as well as the common risks of information security. Information security was presented in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where the Absher platform is the entity responsible for providing electronic services to the Ministry of Interior in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Finally, the most important professional and professional certificates in the field of information security were presented.

 

The lectures received acceptance and interaction from the attendees, and the scientific day witnessed interventions from the Dean of the College and the Head of the Department, Dr. Radi bin Nasser Al-Ruwaili, and a number of attendees, and the lecturers answered all inquiries and questions in an adequate manner.
