College of Science and Arts in Gurayat

Overview

The Royal Decree approved the establishment of the College of Sciences and Arts in Al-Qurayyat Governorate, affiliated to Al-Jouf University, at the beginning of the academic year 1431/1430 AH. Upon its inception, the college included only two departments: the Department of Islamic Studies and the Department of Arabic Language, after which nine other departments were added, bringing the total to 11 departments.

Qurayyat Sciences and Arts organizes a scientific symposium on the role of science in medicine.

The College Student Activities Committee organized a seminar entitled:

"The Role of Science in Medicine" The symposium included three lectures, the first entitled: "The Importance of Chemistry in Medicine" presented by Dr. Salah Fawzi.

 

The lecture dealt with the origin of medicines and their preparation from herbs, how they are linked within the cells of the body, the extent of their effectiveness and their side effects on the cells of the human body. Addiction to the use of certain drugs as an anesthetic destroys nerve cells inside the brain.

The second lecture was titled: Applications of mathematics in medicine.

Prepared by Dr. Ahmed Yahya Mahmoud.

 

During which some examples of the contributions of mathematics in the early detection of diseases were reviewed.

 

In conclusion, Dr. Iman Mahmoud Abdullah giving a lecture on "Biophysics and its various applications".

 

It dealt with the definition of biophysics, its divisions and its role in life. Biophysics contributed to many applications, including: a description of the DNA replication process, the design and cultivation of pacemakers and treatments for heart failure, and medical imaging applications that produced a revolution in the world of accurate diagnosis of what was not known. Before, an accurate perception of the forms of viruses, how they work, and how to eliminate them.

 

The symposium was well received and interacted by the attendees, as it included rich interventions from the  Dean of the College, Dr. Radi bin Nasser Al-Ruwaili and head of the Department of Physics Dr. Majid bin Attia Allah Al-Harbi, and a number of members and attendees.
