 Information Literacy Program (ILP)

 

 

 

Firstly, the idea of the program:

Starting from the role entrusted to the Deanship of Libraries Affairs at Al-Jouf University, which is to serve the educational and research process at the university, especially in terms of enhancing the skills of research methods and accessing electronic and printed information sources, the Deanship of Libraries Affairs continuously holds the Information Literacy Program (ILP) as one of the means to achieve the strategic objectives of the deanship. The idea of the program is summarized in assisting all members of the university on how to access information sources in their various types and forms from multiple locations, how to use those sources, and the skills of efficiently dealing with them in the era of the knowledge explosion.

Secondly, the program's vision:

To reach an academic and research community that possesses information awareness and is self-capable of accessing and efficiently dealing with information with high skill and proficiency.

 

Thirdly, the program's mission:

To disseminate and raise information awareness among the members of Al-Jouf University community, with the aim of achieving continuous knowledge and information exchange, obtaining the latest updates on information sources, and supporting and providing their diverse information needs.

 

Fourthly, the program's objectives:

The Information Literacy Program aims to achieve the following objectives:

- Providing guidance and orientation for new students and faculty members.
- Creating awareness among library beneficiaries within the university community (faculty members and students) about the importance of information in their academic and scholarly lives.
- Introducing the electronic services provided by the Deanship of Libraries Affairs.
- Familiarizing students and faculty members with the available libraries, their departments, and services at the university.
- Informing university members about the various types and forms of information sources available to them.
- Enhancing the information handling skills of university members.
- Explaining how to access and use electronic information resources provided by the university.
- Familiarizing library beneficiaries with library systems and regulations.
- Educating university members about ethical information handling and academic integrity.
- Developing the skills of university members to identify and document information from both traditional and electronic sources.
- Promoting a library culture among students.
- Encouraging students to visit university libraries.
- Requesting training sessions on specialized databases.
