On behalf of my colleagues, it is my pleasure to welcome your visit to our website to learn about the progress of this department and its contributions to the university and surrounding community.

The department of Physics was established in 2006, and it is one of the first department to be established in the college of science. Since its establishment, the department has witnessed continuous growth in many aspects, most notably the increase in the number of students, faculty members, laboratories, scientific publication rate.  Proceeding from the importance of physics in human life and based on the contributions and invention made by physicists throughout the ages, we strive to provide a stimulating educational environment and high-quality research.

The department has about forty members of different academic ranks (demonstrator, lecturer, assistant professor, associate professor, and professor) who work hard to meet all student needs, in the realization of all members that students are the ones who will lead the journey of development after God Almighty in the future. It also includes qualified administrative and technical staff. The Department of Physics offers two academic programs, the bachelor’s Program in General Physics and the Master's Program in Materials Science. The Physics Department has well-equipped laboratories serving the students of both stages, which are the laboratories of solid state, electronics physics, radiological and nuclear physics, modern physics, electromagnetic, optics, general physics, and the materials research. It is one of the leading departments at the level of the College of Science by providing workshops and training courses for many individuals and groups of society. The department includes several research groups in different disciplines that publish in prestigious international scientific journals.
