Deanship of Quality and Academic Accreditation Hold Workshop to Assess Learning Outcomes

Under the auspices of His Highness the Rector of Jouf University, Professor Ismail bin Muhammed Albashri, the Vice-Chancellery for Development and Quality, represented by the Deanship of Quality and Academic Accreditation, held a workshop under the title “Assessing the Learning Outcomes”. It was organized for the vice-chancellors of the university, the deans of faculties, heads of departments, programs coordinators, and heads of quality units in the different sectors of the university.

The workshop started with a speech delivered by His Excellency the Vice-Chancellor for Development and Quality, Dr. Osama bin Hasan Arif, in which he welcomed His Highness the Rector of the University and thanked him for his unlimited support in order to obtain the academic accreditation. He also welcomed the audience and praised the outcomes of the efforts exerted in the previous period. His Excellency stressed the University’s keenness to complete the requirements of academic accreditation in the near future, which represents the importance of assessing learning outcomes because it is one of the most important requirements of the academic accreditation in its institutional as well as program levels.

After that, His Highness the Rector congratulated the audience because the university signed the academic accreditation contract on the institutional and program levels with the National Center for Academic Accreditation and Evaluation. His Highness also emphasized the importance of assessing the learning outcomes that the students learned and making sure that the students enjoy them to guarantee meeting the requirements of the job market in light of the University’s strategic plan that emerged from the Kingdom’s 2030 vision.

It is worth mentioning that the workshop consisted of two sessions. The first session included a number of issues related to the quality of learning outcomes assessment. The most significant issue was the means of preparing the program matrix, modules, and methodological procedures to assess the learning outcomes properly. The second session included practical training supported by handouts to assess the learning outcomes.

His Highness the University Vice-chancellor for Development and Quality concluded highlighting the importance of beginning to review the program and the modules description on the University level as well as preparing the periodic and final tests of this year on all levels in accordance with the recommendations of the workshop.
