Jouf University Obtained the Institutional Accreditation from the NCAAA After Meeting the Required Standards

Jouf University has obtained the academic accreditation from the National Center for Academic Accreditation and Assessment (NCAAA) in an advanced achievement despite of the fact that it was established not long ago. The University Vice President for Quality and Development, Dr. Osama Arif has stressed that Jouf University is always keen to achieve the quality standards in all aspects of the university, confirming that  academic accreditation is an evidence that an institution or educational program has reached a high level of quality, and it is also an evidence of its commitment to apply its system, regulations and independence in the light of a number of approved standards and a set of procedures undertaken by the NCAAA to ensure that the educational institutions meet the required standards, and have the material and human resources, in consistency with the goals pursued by that institution in its educational outputs, and the high level that is commensurate with the aspirations of the community and the national and global challenges, and developments in various areas carried out in accordance with the strategic vision of the institution.

Dr. Osama Arif has mentioned that academic accreditation falls into two types: institutional accreditation, which is based primarily on evaluating the performance of educational institutions in a comprehensive manner, and acknowledging that they apply the quality and academic accreditation standards in an accurate, clear and specific manner. “Institutional accreditation is considered the main basis for any other type of accreditation, and the necessary step to ensure that the educational institution with all its components (inputs, processes, outputs) have met the standards supporting the native and international program accreditation".

As for the second type, it is the program accreditation, which means assuring the execution of a full assessment and thorough examination of all the academic programs in all stages, and the teaching staff, their qualifications, their experience and their research activities, in addition to the students, their evaluation in all their stages and academic records, availability of different teaching and learning resources, and the provision of the main infrastructure, including the laboratories and scientific and technical equipment, ...etc.

Dr. Osama Arif added that, to obtain academic accreditation from the National Center for Academic Accreditation and Evaluation, the university shall prepare reports about its comprehensive and accurate self-assessment study for all aspects of its scientific, administrative, service and other activities in order to determine its eligibility for accreditation based on the accreditation standards prepared by the National Center. Then, the university is subject to external evaluation to validate the results of the self-assessment study by a panel of independent reviewers who will judge the performance and quality levels according to the National Center's standards. Dr. Arif added also that prior to commencing the above-mentioned operations, it must be made clear to the Center that the institution meets the specific requirements related to the main elements of the quality assurance and academic accreditation standards, in addition to the educational institution's compliance with the statutory requirements for its work.

Dr. Osama pointed out that the National Center for Academic Accreditation and Evaluation has developed a set of standards to quality assurance and accreditation of institutions and programs of higher education. These standards cover eleven areas:

  1. Mission Goals and Objectives
  2. Governance and Administration
  3. Management of Quality Assurance and Improvement

  6. Learning Resources
  7. Facilities and Equipment
  8. Financial Planning and Management
  9. Employment Processes
  10. Research
