Admission Guide

The study system in the common first year is as follows:

FIRST

   Admission

1- Admission in one of the two tracks (health or engineering) according to the admission requirements approved by the University Council and announced at the time.

2. Admission shall be annual (The beginning of each academic year) in the Common First Year. The Council of the University may be exempted from this.

3 - The student has the right to change his / her place of study after studying at least one semester on the same track that he accepted, provided that there are vacant seats from admission and fulfilling the student's minimum weighted percentage of the required transfer conditions.

Registration

1. In the First Common Year, the student shall register all the level courses without regard to the cumulative average.

2. A student is not allowed to drop one or more courses during his / her first year of study.

3 - All the Common First Year courses fall within the general cumulative average of the plan allocated to the student after the end of the Common First Year or transferred to it before the end of the Common First Year.

4. The CFY student who is enrolled in Jouf University may not study any course of the study plan as a visiting student at another university.

5. The CFY student who is enrolled in the summer semester shall be treated as an unexpected graduate student, in terms of  the academic load, the period of registration and dropping out of the summer semester.

THIRD

Specialization in colleges after the end of the Common First Year

1 - Specialization in the health colleges shall be after passing all the courses of the health track in the CFY at a rate of not less than 2 out of 5.

2 - Specialization in the Engineering Colleges, Computer and Information Sciences and Computer and Information Science Departments in the College of Science and Arts in Tabarjal and Qurayat shall be after passing all engineering courses in the CFY at a rate of not less than 2 out of 5.

3 - Specialization shall be at the beginning of each semester except for the colleges which stipulate that the allocation shall be annually according to the specializations and colleges available for specializations, as well as the vacant seats approved by the University Council.

Fourth

Conversion between the Common First Year tracks

1 - The student may convert between the tracks of the first year after the first semester of admission to the university as a maximum, provided that there are vacant seats of admission and the student are to meet the minimum weighted rate of the track to be converted only once, this shall not be counted among the convert movements provided for in Article 46 of the Study and Test Regulations.

2 - Students who wish to convert to the same track shall be chosen according to the weighted percentage of admission and according to the vacant seats in each track.

Fifth

Conversion between the colleges that require Common First Year

1 - Student may not convert to colleges requiring the CFY from outside the colleges track he studied in the CFY.

2 - A student in one of the colleges may convert to another faculty or department within the faculties and departments of the track he studied in the Common First Year, provided that he / she has studied at least one semester in the specialization allocated to him / her and met the conversion criteria for the department to be converted to. under articles 46 and 48 of the Al-Jouf University Study and Testing Regulations.

Sixth

Transfer from the Common First Year for the students of Jouf University

1 -  Students are entitled to convert to colleges that do not require a preparatory year prior to the end of the common first year in accordance with the vacant seats in the colleges provided that the admission criteria for the current or previous semester are met if there is no admission.

 

Seventh Internal transfer in the Common First Year  1 - No transfer for students of other faculties at Jouf University to the CFY.
Eighth Transfer to the Common First Year from outside Jouf University The transfer of students from outside Al-Jouf University to the first year may be accepted according to the following criteria:

1. The transfer is only on the same first year track as the student in the university to be transferred from.

2. The student who is transferred to the first year must study all the courses of the Common First Year. It is not permissible to equalize any course that the student has already studied outside Jouf University.

3. Studying at least one semester at a university accredited by the Ministry of Education.

4. Meeting the admission requirements for new students on the track to be transferred at the time or the nearest semester admitted in the Common First Year.

5. Achieving the required rate of external transfer stipulated in Article 42 of the list of studies and tests at Jouf University.

6. Any other conditions determined by the Council of the first common year's deanship and announced at the time.

Ninth Postponement, excuse and drop-out  1. The student has the right to postpone for one semester only, provided that it is not later than the end of the week preceding the semester and the postponement is not included in the regular period of study in the Common First Year.

 2. The student shall be allowed to apologize during his / her study in the Common First Year and maximum of one time, according to the period specified for the excuse in the university calendar, provided that the excuse for all the courses recorded for him in that semester. Provided that the excuse is calculated from the regular period of study in the Common First Year.

 3. If the student completes his first year in the middle of the academic year and wishes to be specialized to one of the colleges following the annual specialization system, he may postpone the specialization to the beginning of the following year provided that he enters into competition with the students who completed their first year at the end of that year.

 4. The postponement and excuse shall be entered in the Common First Year within the number of times specified for the student to postpone and excuse in his university studies and stipulated in the list of studies and tests.

 5. A student who dropped out of study in the Common First year in accordance with Article 17 and its executive rules shall be treated from the list of studies and tests of Jouf University.

 

Tenth Failure in the Common First Year  1. The regular duration of the study in the Common First Year is two semesters. The student is given an exceptional third semester to complete the requirements of the Common First Year. The summer semester is not counted from the regular period of study in the Common First Year. And the Council of the Common First Year's deanship is excepted in the special cases.

 2. Students who are failures in the Common First Year are transferred to departments that do not require the Common First Year according to the vacant seats in the colleges, provided that the admission criteria for the current or previous semester are met if there is no admission.
