Program Information

The Information Systems Program (IS) in the college of computer and information sciences is an internationally recognized undergraduate and postgraduate major for students who want to gain scientific background to work with the sophisticated computing environments, applications, and scientific research inside and outside of academia. In the business environment, the students can design and implement effective solutions to meet organizational and management needs for information and decision support. And they can take prominent role in shaping the future of information inside and outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Information system program is designed to be unique and equip the students with current and emerging information systems technologies, computer applications, decision making, teamwork and leadership.

Generally the program is designed to:

 

  • Increase the level of dependency on national graduates.
  • Offer training, consultancy, and services in the field of information systems to the community.
  • Prepare graduates for higher studies (MSc, PhD, etc) in computer information system domain.
  • Contribute to the technological development plans of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a partial fulfilment of the national development plan.

Objectives and Outcomes

Educational Objectives

PEO1- Contribute to the development of growth of the society by applying Information System in various doming.

PEO2- Advance in their careers in organizations by applying information systems & communication skills in the evolving business and technological issues.

PEO3- Continue their professional development through advanced study and research.

 

Student Outcomes

Knowledge:

1.1: Describe characteristics of various components of information systems and define the computing requirements to solve computer-based problems and state them in appropriate forms.

1.2: Recognize the essentials of design, implementation, and evaluation of computer-based system, process, component, or program to meet desired needs.

1.3: Demonstrate a deep knowledge of business area analysis and the enterprise architecture.

1.4: Recognize the concepts of computing and mathematics appropriate to the discipline.


Cognitive Skills:

2.1: Apply knowledge of computing and mathematics appropriate to the information systems.

2.2: Analyze a problem, identify and define information systems solutions appropriate to it.

2.3: Design, implement and evaluate an information-based system, process, component, or program to meet desired needs.


Interpersonal Skills & Responsibility:

3.1: Work effectively as an individual and as a member of a team to accomplish a goal.

3.2: Analyze the local and global impact of computing ‎on individuals, organization, and society.‎
